Read about these side effects caused by Trulance

The US governing body has approved a new treatment option for chronic constipation. It's called Trulance (plecanatide), and it was approved to treat chronic idiopathic constipation in adult patients. Idiopathic means the cause of the constipation is unknown.
Trulance is a tablet that is an agonist for guanylate cyclase-C for the diagnosis of Chronic Idiopathic Constipation (CIC). Trulance's side effects are:

  • Diarrhea
  • Sinus Infection
  • Irritable intestine syndrome
  • Gas Bloating
  • Infection of the upper respiratory tract
  • Increased biochemical testing of the liver
Trulance may interact with other drugs, therefore the oral dosage of Trulance for adults is 3 mg per day. As it interacts with other medicines and supplements, it is recommended to consume medications only after consultation with the doctor mainly during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Trulance has been approved as the new cure for chronic constipation treatment. Trulance can be used as a tablet and taken once a day. It has been noted that diarrhea was the most common side effect. In some instances, diarrhea may be severe. If you have severe diarrhea, it is recommended that you stop taking this drug. In such circumstances, it is said to be more beneficial to consult your health care physician.

Trulance is the brand-name drug of plecanatide. Trulance (plecanatide) should not be given to children younger than 6 years as it may cause severe dehydration. Trulance is not suggested to the age group younger than 18 because it is not yet known whether plecanatide is safe or effective for them. Plecanatide may not be considered secure for all. It is not recommended for people with intestinal blockage to take this drug.

Clinical studies suggest that since the experiments were performed in widely varying circumstances, the adverse reaction levels reported in a drug's clinical trials can not be directly compared with the results of another medication and may not represent the rates seen in practice.

  • Chronic Idiopathic Constipation (CIC): Diarrhea is induced by the most frequent adverse reaction triggered by CIC patients using 3 mg for 12 weeks.
  • Irritable Constipation Bowel Syndrome (IBS-C): The response of IBS-C patients began from 4 weeks on 3 mg tablets.
